UPDATE: On Assignment

Hello wonderful scriptaweekers!

First of all, I apologize for my absence.  I should have updated sooner, but things have just been crazy.  As per the previous update, I took a bit of a hiatus from writing, because my mind just needed a break after completing 52 scripts in 52 weeks!   Oh, the joys of a reboot…   In reflecting on the process, I learned that it really wasn’t the difficulty of writing so many physical pages that inevitably tired me out – it was switching each and every week.  Ha, that or keeping track of hundreds and hundreds of characters!  Yikes.  Nonetheless, I would not have traded the experience in for anything – it taught me how much I could push myself as a writer.

Anyway, on to the point of my post…. as luck would have it, I was approached for a screenwriting assignment, and I have been hard at work!  I am super excited about the project, and I look forward to sharing information about it when the production company is good and ready.

In the meantime, hopefully there’s still plenty of content on the site to enjoy.  If you’ve read every single entry, please email me, because honestly – you deserve a medal!  …and a job as a hollywood reader.

Lastly, in some other exciting news, multiple illustrative projects (comic books & kids books) that I wrote for this site are actually in production, and I cannot wait to show you when they’re all done.  : )

Thank you for sticking with me guys.

Best,

Matt

UPDATE: Next 2 weeks

Hey scriptaweek readers,

I’ve decided to postpone a script submission for a few weeks and take my first break in almost a year and a half, because I’m visiting family and also traveling each of the next two weekends.  If you’re dying to read something, I’m sure you can find something in the 60+ submissions on the site.  : )  If you’ve already read them all – wow, you are awesome!

See you guys in a few weeks.

Best,

Matt

UPDATE: 20 Scripts! New post day – Wed.

Hey guys,

Can’t believe I made it to 20 scripts!  It’s definitely been an adventure, and I look forward to continuing it.  Thank you for supporting me.  There’s some exciting things coming for scriptaweek.com, including some new features and a new website.  Can’t wait to show them off soon.

In a small update, I’m also changing the post date to Wednesday instead of Tuesday.  After doing Tuesdays for so long, I’ve discovered  it’s just not the best day for my schedule – so I’m going to try out Wednesday.  Somehow it also turned out that I’m traveling each of the next 3 Tuesdays, so I needed to make the change.  It might end up being temporary, so we’ll see how it works out.

6 more scripts, and I’ve done half a year… wow.  Hope to see you then.

UPDATE: 1/4 YEAR DONE! 13 SCRIPTS!

Today’s script marks a really big day for me.  3 months ago I started this site, and had no idea if I was going to be able to do it.  Most of the people I told about this site thought it was impossible.  I don’t blame them.  But here I am 3 months later, and I now have 13 scripts in the can.  wow. I’m not going to lie… it’s been very difficult, especially shifting gears each and every week on a new property, but I am extremely happy to officially be 1/4 of the way done on a scriptaweek year.

In a short 3 months, I have knocked out a total of 440 pages.  Or about 5 pages a day since I started. Hard to believe. But it’s only the start….there’s still plenty of work ahead, and I’m not giving up.

In this next phase, I’m looking to add new features, and will continue to expand this site.  I’m extremely thankful to my readers, and especially appreciate your thoughtful emails.  Soon, scriptaweek.com is going to take the next step in launching itself to many more people, and I hope you will all stay along for the ride. Thanks again!

There’s also some exciting news involving the future of a couple of the stories.  I will announce it as soon as I am allowed.

Thank you again for reading, and I look forward to sharing many more stories with you.

WELCOME

Welcome to my website, scriptaweek.com!  Today, at the start of the new year, I begin an ambitious mission to write and publish to the web a new script every week.  It is a daunting challenge, and I do not know if I will be able to meet my goal, but what’s life without trying to do something unique and demanding?

Every Wednesday, I’ll submit a new script, either for film, TV, comic, or a children’s book.  In the future I may tackle other formats such as Video Game or Webisode scripts, as long as it’s a script of a roughly equivalent length for each week. Continue Reading →
